Activities of the National Runway Safety Group

In order to coordinate activities aimed at enhancing runway operations safety, to implement the provisions of the Runway Operations Safety Program in the Civil Aviation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and to further improve it, the National Runway Safety Group of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NRSG) has been established.

The main objectives of the NRSG are:

• comprehensive review of issues and development of integrated mitigation measures related to runway operations at aerodromes of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• submission of proposals on measures under the Runway Safety Plan of the civil aviation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
• performance of advisory and coordination functions to facilitate the establishment and enhance the effectiveness of Local Runway Safety Teams (LRST);
• provision of expert opinions or expert assessments on matters related to runway safety;
• consideration of Equivalent Levels of Flight Safety (ELFS) in cases of deviations from the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of civil aviation that may affect runway safety.

The current composition of the NRSG includes representatives of:

• JSC “Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan”;
• JSC “Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport”;
• JSC “Almaty International Airport”;
• RSE “Kazaeronavigatsia”;
• JSC “Air Astana”;
• JSC “FlyArystan”;
• VIETJET QAZAQSTAN (JSC “Qazaq Air”).
