The airport in the city of Arkalyk has received its own international designation - AYK. The code was officially assigned by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This means that Arkalyk can now be included in global flight booking, ticketing and scheduling systems. Notably, a procedure that normally takes up to two months was completed in just three days in this case. The assignment of the aviation code is one of the steps in restoring the airport, which has not handled regular passenger flights for more than 30 years. The facility is currently undergoing reconstruction on the instructions of the Head of State. The airport is expected to welcome its first passengers in the near future, the Ministry of Transport told us.
