Transit growth: jet fuel prices for international airlines have been reduced in Kazakhstan

14/01/2026

The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has adopted a systemic decision aimed at increasing the competitiveness of domestic airports and strengthening the country's transit potential.

The implementation of a set of government measures to ensure access to airport infrastructure and reduce the tax burden has enabled the specialized aviation fuel operator, KazMunayGas-Aero LLP (a subsidiary of JSC NC KazMunayGas), to offer international airlines fundamentally new terms.

Since January 2026, the cost of into-plane refuelling for international cargo and passenger carriers has been reduced to $930-$1,000 per ton of jet fuel, taking into account current market conditions, compared to $1,200 previously at airports in cities of national significance.

This measure is being implemented as part of the government's systemic policy to create a transparent and predictable aviation fuel market. Reducing the cost of jet fuel, implementing international aviation fuel operator practices, and establishing a unified competitive market environment create a solid foundation for transforming Kazakhstan into a key aviation transit hub in the region.

Today, KazMunayGas-Aero has direct contracts for in-plane refuelling with a number of leading international airlines, including Turkish Airlines, Turkish Cargo, FlyDubai, Red Sea, Air Cairo, Somon Air, FlyMeta, and Silk Way West Airlines.
