The cost of air tickets in Kazakhstan may decrease due to cheaper jet fuel

21/01/2026

Airfare in Kazakhstan may decline following lower jet fuel prices. This was announced by Transport Minister Nurlan Sauranbayev, commenting on measures to reduce the price of jet fuel. He noted that jet fuel accounts for up to 40% of the cost of a flight, and to develop transit potential, the country needs to approach the prices of major aviation hubs. The government has been instructed to gradually reduce fuel prices at Kazakhstani airports to make them more competitive and attractive to airlines.

NURLAN SAURANBAYEV, MINISTER OF TRANSPORT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN:

Today's target price, announced by the Ministry of Energy, is $890. Today we've reached $980-$1,000, and the next target price is another

$100 lower. And that's how we'll move downwards. And naturally, if the price of jet fuel falls, this will also impact the price of airline tickets, the price of

cargo transportation, and the attraction of additional airlines. This is, in fact, one of the key factors in the success of transit and the growth of the aviation economy in

Kazakhstan.
