Meteorological flight support (MSF)

The objective of meteorological service for international air navigation shall be to contribute towards the safety, regularity and efficiency of international air navigation;

Meteorological support of flights of aerial vehicles shall consist in well-timed provision of qualitative meteorological information to the air operators, air traffic support bodies, air traffic control bodies and to other air space users of the Republic of Kazakhstan, carrying out the activity, mentioned in subparagraph 1) of paragraph 1 of Article 18 of this Law, independently from their state affiliation, departmental affiliation and forms of ownership, on the basis of agreements. (Article 35 of the Law on the Use of the Airspace of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Aviation Activities dated July 15, 2010 No. 339-IV).

• The functions of the MET authority are implemented by the authorized organization in the field of civil aviation – JSC "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan

• * Meteorological support of civil and experimental aviation flights is performed by ANSP.

• ANSP provide meteorological support for the provision of aviation users: operators, flight crew members, ATS authorities, flight information centers, search and rescue services, airport services and other bodies related to the implementation or provision of flights, meteorological information necessary to perform their functions, in order to promote safe, regular and effective flight performance.

• 25 aerodrome meteorological offices and 4 meteorological watching offices have been certified in the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the moment, the number of aviation MET personnel’s who supply aeronautical users with meteorological information is more than 300 people. Aerodromes of the Republic of Kazakhstan are equipped with modern Finnish meteorological equipment from VAISALA.
