Kazakhstan participated in the 12th meeting of the ICAO EUR/NAT Aviation Security and Facilitation Group (ENAVSECG/12) held in Paris.
The meeting marked a decision to expand the group’s scope to include provisions of ICAO Annex 9 “Facilitation.” Particular attention was given to analyzing arising security threats, threats posed by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS), cybersecurity risks, and the adoption of innovative technologies and procedures in aviation security. Participants also addressed certification and personnel training, and shared best practices for strengthening national monitoring and oversight systems.
Kazakhstan continues to play an active role in ENAVSECG, with Darhan Yespotanov, a representative of the Kazakhstan Aviation Administration, serving as the group’s Deputy Chair. At the meeting, reports were presented by Darhan Katyshev, Deputy Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Kuanish Dautova, Head of the Air Transport Division of the Kazakhstan Aviation Administration.
Kazakh experts submitted two working papers — one focused on enhancing the national aviation security oversight system, and the other on improving the effectiveness of national facilitation committees in civil aviation. Both papers were well received and contributed meaningfully to the exchange of regulatory experience among member states.
The outcomes of ENAVSECG/12 support the ongoing harmonization of national procedures with international standards in the fields of aviation security and facilitation. For Kazakhstan, this marks a significant step toward aligning internal practices with global requirements and deepening cooperation within the EUR/NAT region.
Kazakhstan’s engagement in such events underscores its commitment to maintaining a high standard of aviation security and fulfilling its responsibilities as a member of the international aviation community.
