ICAO experts continue their work in Kazakhstan on the development of the country's Civil Aviation Master Plan through 2050 (CAMP). As part of the project, the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (AAK) hosted a workshop titled «CAMP Strategic Environmental Analysis workshop», jointly organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan.
The workshop was led by Louise Stols, ICAO CAMP Project Coordinator, and Mauricio Gutierrez, ICAO Airport Planning Expert.
The event brought together representatives from Kazakhstan's aviation industry, including airlines, airports, air navigation service providers, aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organizations, and aviation training institutions.
During the workshop, participants conducted a comprehensive strategic assessment of the external environment using the internationally recognized PESTL and SWOT analytical frameworks.
The collaborative analysis focused on identifying the key political, economic, social, technological, legal, and environmental factors shaping the future of Kazakhstan's civil aviation sector, while also assessing the industry's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and potential threats.
The findings and recommendations developed during the workshop will serve as a foundation for defining Kazakhstan's long-term strategic priorities and establishing a shared vision for the safe, sustainable, resilient, and efficient development of the country's civil aviation sector through 2050.
The workshop forms part of the ongoing ICAO-supported process to develop Kazakhstan's first comprehensive Civil Aviation Master Plan, which will provide a strategic roadmap for the future growth and modernization of the national aviation industry.
