28/05/2025

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) conducted a seminar on the Universal Security Audit Programme – Continuous Monitoring Approach (USAP-CMA) at the ICAO European and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) Regional Office in Paris, France.

The seminar was aimed at providing clarification on the USAP-CMA programme, with a particular focus on the critical elements and the compliance of ICAO Member States with aviation security requirements. The main objective of the seminar was to familiarize participants with the tools, methodology, and procedures used in the planning, conduct, and reporting of audits under the USAP-CMA framework. These procedures are regularly updated in accordance with ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), as well as industry best practices.

During the seminar, participants completed eight training modules covering various aspects of the USAP-CMA, including the provisions of ICAO Annex 17 (Aviation Security) and Annex 9 (Facilitation). The programme also included practical exercises aimed at fostering collaboration and enhancing practical understanding among aviation security professionals.

The seminar brought together over 40 aviation professionals from more than 20 countries. The event served as a platform for sharing experience in conducting USAP-CMA audits.
