At an extended session of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the draft Law “On the Ratification of the Protocol Relating to an Amendment to Article 50 (a) of the Convention on International Civil Aviation and the Protocol Relating to an Amendment to Article 56 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation” was approved.
For the amendments to enter into force, at least two-thirds of ICAO Member States (128 countries) must ratify them. To date, the Protocols have been ratified by more than 121 States.
With the support of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the draft Law has been approved. Following its signing by the Head of State, Kazakhstan will become the first country in the region and in Central Asia to ratify the amendments to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
The ratification of these amendments reaffirms Kazakhstan’s commitment to its international aviation obligations, as well as to the goals and principles of the Chicago Convention.
