Senate Approves Legislative Amendments to Prepare Kazakhstan for FAA Assessment and Direct Air Service to the United States

12/06/2026

On 11 June 2026, the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved the draft Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Issues of Mechanical Engineering and Transport Development.”

The legislation introduces a number of amendments to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On the Use of the Airspace of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Aviation Activities.”

The amendments have been developed to further enhance Kazakhstan’s civil aviation regulatory framework and align national legislation with international aviation standards and recommended practices.

The changes are particularly significant in the context of Kazakhstan’s preparations for the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) conducted by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Implementation of the approved amendments will strengthen the country’s state oversight system for aviation safety and support the fulfillment of the President’s directive to establish direct air services between Kazakhstan and the United States.
