Search and rescue actions have been tested in the North Kazakhstan region

The Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan conducted coordination exercises on search and rescue support for flights in the North Kazakhstan region. The scenario included practicing the actions of all services and units involved in the exercises in the event of a simulated aviation event - an emergency landing of a simulated helicopter performing a flight to protect the forest fund with one pilot and five passengers on board at a distance of 65 km from the city of Petropavlovsk.

The exercises included operational interaction between the search and rescue coordination center, the command center for operational management and strategic planning of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the control point for receiving signals from the COSPAS-SARSAT International Satellite System in Kazakhstan, a search and rescue aircraft, and ground search and rescue teams of the Department of Emergency Situations.

The readiness of the search and rescue aircraft of Dala Air Ltd., stationed in Petropavlovsk, was checked. The aircraft conducted a visual search in the area of the suspected crash using the coordinates transmitted by the COSPAS-SARSAT system.

In addition, during the exercise, the landing of a rescue team from a helicopter and the evacuation of simulated victims, the involvement of ground emergency rescue teams, medical services and fire brigades of the territorial bodies of the Department of Emergency Situations of the North Kazakhstan Region, and communication and interaction algorithms between exercise participants at all stages of the operation were practiced.

As a result of the event, all the conditionally injured were  evacuated and delivered to medical institutions in the cities of Mamlyutka and Petropavlovsk.

The leadership of the exercise noted the high level of training of all specialists of the units of the Department of Emergency Situations of Petropavlovsk and the Department of Emergency Situations of the North Kazakhstan Region, the efficiency and professionalism of the staff of the district hospital of Mamlyutka and the multidisciplinary regional hospital of Petropavlovsk.
