As part of his first official visit to Kazakhstan, President of the ICAO Council Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano visited the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan to become acquainted with the organization’s operations.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Nicolas Rallo, Director of the ICAO European and North Atlantic (EUR/NAT) Regional Office; Mr. Talgat Lastayev, Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Ms. Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chair of the Civil Aviation Committee under the Ministry of Transport; Mr. Timur Tlegenov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ICAO; as well as the leadership and staff of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (AAK).

In his remarks, Mr. Sciacchitano noted that Kazakhstan has achieved impressive progress in building its own civil aviation system and implementing high regulatory standards across Central Asia.

These and many other accomplishments have been made possible thanks to the effective work of Kazakhstan’s aviation authorities in regulating the civil aviation industry. International and national initiatives aimed at standardization and enhancing air transport safety have also played a critical role in this success.

Mr. Nicolas Rallo, Director of the ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Office, emphasized that the cooperation between Kazakhstan and ICAO is vital for strengthening aviation safety, ensuring the sustainable development of civil aviation, and further integrating Kazakhstan into the global aviation system.

“Kazakhstan is actively involved in ICAO’s regional initiatives, providing comprehensive support and sharing its expertise with other States in the region. The country demonstrates a clear commitment to ICAO’s shared goals, including through its active participation in regional events. Particular recognition should be given to the ICAO workshops hosted in Kazakhstan on aviation safety and gender equality, including those focused on the empowerment of women in the aviation sector, which were highly appreciated by the ICAO leadership”, - Mr. Rallo stated.

At the conclusion of the visit, President of the ICAO Council Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano and ICAO EUR/NAT Regional Director Mr. Nicolas Rallo extended their best wishes to Kazakhstan’s aviation professionals for continued success and future achievements.
