13/09/2022

Almaz Idyrysov, Vice-Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development, met with Bogdan Mindrescu, State Secretary of Romania's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee Talgat Lastaev, Director General of the Romanian Civil Aviation Administration Nicole Stoica, Director General of JSC "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan" Catalin Radu, and representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Kazakhstan were also present at the meeting.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a variety of cooperation issues in the fields of air, road, rail, and sea transport, and expressed their willingness to expand cooperation on all modes of transportation. They also agreed to form expert working groups on the issues raised.

According to the Memorandum signed both countries' airlines will be able to operate 14 flights per week (7 passenger and 7 cargo) between the two countries on any type of aircraft. Furthermore, within the framework of the "open sky" regime, the Kazakh side offered the Romanian side the use of the 5th of "air freedom" to fly to Kazakhstan.

As a result, Romanian airlines planned to launch flights between Bucharest and Nur-Sultan in early 2020. However, due to the spread of coronavirus infection, the flight from Bucharest to Nur-Sultan has been postponed indefinitely.

At the same time, N.Stoica, Director General of the Civil Aviation Administration of Romania, and C. Radu, Director General of JSC "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan," signed a technical cooperation agreement. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to keep working on the establishment of direct scheduled flights between Kazakhstan and Romania.
