In Alatau City, technical test flights of eVTOL air taxis were conducted with the participation of the Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Talgat Lastayev, and the Chief Executive Officer of JSC “Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan” Michael Daniel, as well as representatives of Alatau Advance Air Group Ltd (AAAG) and AutoFlight.
Air taxis represent an innovative and environmentally friendly mode of air transportation powered by electric engines. The aircraft is capable of reaching a maximum speed of up to 200 km/h and performing flights over distances of up to 200 kilometers, providing an effective solution for urban and regional air mobility challenges.
Over the year, the Ministry of Transport, together with companies involved in the implementation of this type of transport, has been working on establishing the necessary regulatory framework. As part of this effort, legislative amendments have been developed to regulate the operation of air taxis and the development of modern air mobility.
At present, the proposed amendments have undergone coordination stages and are under discussion, with their adoption and incorporation into the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan planned in the near future.
In parallel, work is underway to develop specialized infrastructure. The concept and design of vertiports are being developed by an international Italian company with experience in designing similar facilities in various countries around the world.
A total of six vertiports are planned to be constructed by 2028. They will be located at strategically important urban and transport points, taking into account safety requirements, transport accessibility, and integration with existing infrastructure.
