The Ministry of Transport has reached an agreement with the aviation authorities of the United Arab Emirates on the investigation of aviation accidents and incidents

The Kazakh delegation, led by Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev and with the participation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UAE, Rauan Zhumabek, held a meeting with the aviation authorities of the United Arab Emirates, represented by the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi.

The Ministry of Transport is studying best international practices as part of the implementation of the Head of State's instruction to establish a Center for the Investigation of Transport Accidents and Incidents. Currently, a bill on the establishment of the Center is being considered by the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In order to exchange experience and expand cooperation with the UAE aviation authorities, Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Lastayev and Director General of the UAE Civil Aviation Authority Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the investigation of aviation accidents and incidents. The agreement provides for the exchange of information, assistance in investigating accidents and incidents, and the exchange of experience in the implementation of artificial intelligence and aviation technology research.

The parties also agreed to hold joint seminars aimed at improving the skills of investigators. It is worth noting that the level of compliance with ICAO standards and recommended practices for investigation is 100%.

During the meeting, the Deputy Minister also noted a significant increase in passenger traffic between the two countries and discussed the possibility of expanding the route map, with an emphasis on opening direct flights to regional airports in Kazakhstan (Atyrau, Shymkent, Aktau, Aktobe).

Rauan Zhumabek, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UAE, thanked the Arab aviation authorities for their cooperation and expressed confidence in further strategic partnership, contributing to the development of trade, tourism, and cultural ties.

In addition, in order to increase transit traffic, issues related to the opening and increase of flights to Kazakhstan were discussed with Emirates and Fly Dubai airlines, respectively.

Etihad Airways is expected to resume flights to Almaty in the first quarter of 2026.
