The Ministry of Transport Discussed Measures for the Evacuation of Citizens from Middle Eastern Countries

01/03/2026

The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting of the Operational Headquarters regarding the situation in the Middle East.

The Headquarters includes representatives of the Civil Aviation Committee, Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, Kazaeronavigatsia, as well as the airlines Air Astana, FlyArystan, SCAT Airlines, and VietJet Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the following issues were discussed:

1.     The current situation in the Middle Eastern countries;

2.     Support measures for passengers of cancelled flights;

3.     Airlines’ plans to return passengers to Kazakhstan using alternative and safe air routes.

At present, the airspace is either closed or remains unstable in the following countries: Iran, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Iraq, and Lebanon. As a result, 14 flights scheduled for 28 February and 12 flights scheduled for 1 March from these countries to Kazakhstan have been cancelled.

The airlines expressed their readiness to allocate aircraft to operate repatriation flights once the airspace of these countries is reopened. Further actions will be coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

To assist passengers, a 24/7 call center has been organized at the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan:
