Measures have been taken against Almaty International Airport over the terminal flooding

The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan held an emergency meeting with the administration of Almaty International Airport, together with law enforcement authorities, regarding the incident involving flooding from the terminal roof.

The Civil Aviation Committee has held the airport administratively liable in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The airport’s CEO has issued a disciplinary sanction against Senior Vice President for Technical Affairs Mehmet Guzel.

The airport has apologized to passengers for the inconvenience caused. Measures to address the identified deficiencies have been intensified, and all necessary work is being carried out promptly.

The work is expected to be completed and the causes of the flooding fully eliminated within six months.

The Ministry of Transport noted that such violations will be addressed without delay, ensuring strict compliance with civil aviation regulations and the uninterrupted operation of aviation infrastructure facilities.
