In line with the State-of-the-Nation Address delivered by the Head of State on October 28, 2026, which outlined key priorities for infrastructure development, Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev chaired a meeting with representatives of all regional administrations (akimats) and airports to discuss airport infrastructure modernization.
The meeting reviewed the progress of projects involving the construction and reconstruction of runways, the modernization of passenger terminals, and overall airport infrastructure development.
Under the three-year airport infrastructure development plan through 2029, runway modernizations are scheduled across 7 of the country's airports. This includes the construction of 3 new runways in Astana, Shymkent, and Aktobe, as well as the reconstruction of 4 existing runways in Almaty, Zhezkazgan, Taraz, and Uralsk.
Additionally, the plan provides for the construction and reconstruction of passenger terminals at 7 airports: Aktobe, Atyrau, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Zhezkazgan, Semey, Pavlodar, and Urdzhar.
Special emphasis was placed on ensuring the timely development of engineering design and cost documentation, securing funding sources, and adhering to project delivery schedules.
Following the meeting, relevant state authorities, local executive bodies, and stakeholder organizations were instructed to step up efforts to ensure the timely execution of all infrastructure projects.
