Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport, Nurlan Sauranbayev, met with Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), on the sidelines of ICAO Aviation Security Week 2026, which is being held in Astana on October 20–22.
During the meeting, the parties discussed Kazakhstan’s cooperation with ICAO, ways to strengthen aviation security, and the further development of international cooperation in civil aviation.
The Minister outlined the measures being taken to advance Kazakhstan’s aviation sector. Under the three-year development plan through 2028, work is underway to expand the international route network, modernize airport infrastructure, renew the aircraft fleet, and train qualified aviation personnel. In parallel, Kazakhstan is developing a Civil Aviation Development Master Plan through 2050 with expert support from ICAO.
Following the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening their partnership and expanding cooperation in key priority areas of civil aviation.
