A regional ECAC–International Civil Aviation Organization EUR/NAT workshop titled “Supporting Air Accident Victims and Their Families through Family Assistance Plans” was held in Madrid, Spain. Representatives of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, Air Astana , and Almaty International Airport took part in the event.
The workshop brought together more than 70 participants from states, civil aviation authorities, airlines, airports, and associations of victims’ families. Discussions focused on international best practices, lessons learned from past accidents, and the roles of states and industry in supporting air accident victims and their families.
Presentations were delivered by Vsevolod Kim, Director - chief aviation inspector of the Department of Facilitation, passenger and cargo services of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, Tolganay Abdullayeva, Supervisor Emergency Response, Operations Department of the Air Astana and Kairat Zhumatayev, Director of the Department of Operational Services Almaty International Airport.
Experts highly praised the work of the Kazakhstani specialists, noting the practical value of their presentations and their contribution to discussions on cooperation between airports and airlines in providing assistance to affected families.
Kazakhstan will continue to exchange best practices and participate in the development of Family Assistance Plans at the regional level.
