A working meeting was held in Astana between the leadership of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives of SITA.

The main objective of the meeting was to review the results of SITA's assessment of Kazakhstan's state-owned airports and to define the next strategic steps toward the comprehensive digital transformation of the country's civil aviation sector.

Earlier, with the support of the Civil Aviation Committee, SITA completed a comprehensive audit of 14 state-owned airports across Kazakhstan. The assessment found that the level of deployment of essential passenger processing and baggage handling systems remains insufficient in most airports, with an average level of implementation of only 38%. As a result, a significant number of operational processes are still performed manually.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the deployment of advanced digital solutions across Kazakhstan's airports, including the automation of passenger check-in, baggage handling and tracking, passenger flow management, as well as the implementation of modern biometric technologies to enhance aviation security, accelerate pre-flight procedures, and improve the overall passenger experience.

Particular attention was given to the establishment of a centralized Airport Digital Operations Center in Astana. The center will provide real-time monitoring, coordination, and operational management of key airport processes across the country's state airports.

Another key topic of discussion was SITA's potential participation in equipping Kazakhstan's three new airports currently under construction in Zaysan, Kenderli, and the Katon-Karagay District with advanced digital technologies. The parties explored the implementation of integrated solutions, including passenger processing systems, baggage management, passenger flow management, biometric identification, and other digital services aligned with international standards.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in expanding cooperation and implementing joint projects aimed at accelerating the digital transformation of Kazakhstan's aviation sector, strengthening aviation security, and enhancing the quality of passenger services.
