As part of ICAO Aviation Security Week, a working meeting was held between representatives of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan and the International Air Transport Association (IATA), dedicated to the development of digital technologies in air cargo operations.
A key topic of discussion was the implementation of the electronic Consignment Security Declaration (e-CSD), designed to eliminate paper documentation when sharing cargo security status, increase process transparency, and accelerate data exchange among stakeholders across the aviation supply chain.
The parties also discussed the IATA ONE Record international standard, which unlocks new opportunities for digital interoperability among airlines, airports, and government agencies without requiring the complete replacement of existing information systems.
IATA representatives expressed interest in collaborating with Kazakhstan on a potential pilot project utilizing ONE Record and e-CSD. The Kazakhstani side acknowledged the promise of these technologies while highlighting the need for a preliminary study on their application, taking into account the country's existing electronic document management system for air cargo, e-Freight.
An agreement was reached to continue expert consultations to assess the technical and organizational aspects of potentially adopting these international digital standards.
Implementing such initiatives will enable Kazakhstan to streamline and expedite data exchange and processing in international air cargo operations, ensure more efficient integration with international digital systems, and enhance transparency and confidence among foreign partners in Kazakhstan’s aviation security procedures. Adopting these standards will support the alignment of national practices with international standards, further drive the digitalization of the aviation industry, and strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a regional transport and logistics hub.
