Kazakhstan and China Agree on Further Expansion of Air Services

05/11/2026

On November 4, as part of the "China – Central Asia" (C5+1) Civil Aviation Cooperation Working Group Conference held in Tashkent, bilateral negotiations took place between the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China. The Kazakh delegation was led by Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chair of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Chinese side was represented by Ms. Bai Wenli, Deputy Director General of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the prospects for the further expansion of international air services between Kazakhstan and China, including an increase in regular flights and the expansion of the flight network.

Following the meeting, agreements were reached to increase the number of permitted flight frequencies from 150 to 180 flights per week, as well as to add two more Chinese cities, Chengdu and Kashgar, to the route network.

The implementation of these agreements will broaden opportunities for the airlines of both countries, enhance the accessibility of direct flights, create more convenient conditions for passengers, and improve options for connecting flights.

The parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and ensuring the consistent development of air traffic between the two nations.

Kazakhstan and China consistently develop cooperation in the field of civil aviation. The growing passenger traffic and the intensification of business and tourist exchanges create additional opportunities for the further expansion of direct air services between the countries.
