Air Astana Airlines plans to operate regular flights on the route Almaty-Medina and Almaty-Jeddah with a frequency of 2 flights per week. Currently, the airline has submitted the relevant documents to obtain permits for the above flights. After obtaining the appropriate permits, the airline is ready to start operating these flights until the end of 2019.

In turn, the "SCAT" air company also plans to begin flights on the routes Almaty-Jeddah (on Wednesdays) and Almaty-Medina (on Saturdays) approximately from the beginning of December 2019 on Boeing-757. The airline is currently undergoing a certification procedure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

According to the current agreement between the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the designated airlines of both parties have the right to perform 4 passenger flights and 3 cargo scheduled flights per week between the countries.

The permitted cities for KSA carriers are Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent and Karaganda, and for Kazakhstan carriers – Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina and Dammam.

Since 2016 the "SCAT" air company performs irregular flights to Saudi Arabia to transport Kazakhstan’s pilgrims during the Hajj season. In turn, the KSA flights are carried out by the airline "Fly Nas" for the transportation of Kazakhstan’s pilgrims.
