The international MESAFE (Mental health in aviation safety) conference was held at EASA headquarters in Cologne

On April 23-24 this year, the international conference MESAFE (Mental health in aviation safety) took place at the EASA headquarters in Cologne, where representatives from more than 20 countries took part, including the Director of the aviation medicine Department of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan Almira Berdongarova and a technical specialist in human factor Khorlan Ashimova.

For two days, participants discussed various aspects of the aeromedical assessment of mental health. Starting from the advantages and limitations of psychodiagnostic tests and ending with a complex discussion about the use of psychotropic drugs, as well as psychoactive substances and their compatibility with aviation duties. The current problems related to ensuring the psychological efficiency of pilots and dispatchers were considered.

Aviation experts from all over the world, together with public health professionals, operators, come together to exchange ideas and share knowledge about improving flight safety and aviation safety through joint efforts of effective mental health management at all stages of medical supervision of the health of aviation personnel.

The adopted proposals and recommendations should become a unified approach of the countries participating in the conference, especially since in Kazakhstan the health of the population is legally related to the factor of ensuring the national security of our country.
