In connection with the epidemiological situation in the People's Republic of China, the Interdepartmental Commission under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by Deputy Prime Minister Berdibek Saparbayev, decided on February 3 to suspend regular air services with the People's Republic of China. Air Astana, SCAT (Kazakhstan), China Southern Airlines and Air China (China) operated regular flights between the Kazakh cities of Nur-Sultan, Almaty and the Chinese cities of Beijing, Urumqi, Xi'an, Sanya and Haikou.
Passengers who have tickets for the abovementioned flights from February 3 of this year should get a ticket refund at the place of their purchase. Ticket refunds will be issued without penalties and will be fully refunded. Additional flights from Beijing and Urumqi will be organized to take out the remaining passengers.
Previously, as part of the measures taken to respond to and counteract the importation of infection, the 72-hour visa-free transit regime for Chinese citizens in Kazakhstan was temporarily suspended by decision of the Government of Kazakhstan.
However, citizens are advised to refrain from travelling to the People's Republic of China by other means of transport until the coronavirus infection situation improves.
