A regular meeting of the Working (expert) Group on the Aviation Security of the member States was held in Yerevan (Armenia) from 17 to 18 April of 2025. Under the presidency of the Armenian side and under the organizing support of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) the experts from Armenia, Byelorussia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia took part in the meeting.
The agenda of the Meeting includes approaches unification to inspection activities, protection of the infrastructure of an air navigation service provider, insider threats, responding to false reports of the presence of prohibited items, cybersecurity issues and the use of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Special attention was paid to the risk assessments in the field of aviation security and flight safety including in areas of conflict and nearby.
During the meeting, the participants approved a work plan for 2025.
The discussion was held in a constructive atmosphere with an emphasis on practical interaction and the search for balanced solutions.
At the same time the importance of the EEC’s role as a moderator of integration processes was noted. The Commission is intensifying its work in this direction, forming a stable platform for coordinating the efforts of Member States and developing coordinated approaches to risk management in civil aviation.
In order to experience exchange in ensuring aviation security at airports and air traffic management, the Armenian side demonstrated the existing practice at the Zvartnots International Airport of Yerevan and Armaairnavigation.
Following the meeting, steps were outlined to implement joint initiatives, including the preparation of joint working documents for submission to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), implementation of pilot projects and development of information exchange.
