Following the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the Republic of Serbia in Belgrade, and in accordance with his directive, negotiations were held — with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Serbia — between the Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Talgat Lastayev, and the Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia, Ms. Aleksandra Sofronijević, to discuss the establishment of direct flights between the capitals of the two countries. A meeting was also held with the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Youth of the Republic of Serbia, Ms. V. Rakić.
From the Kazakhstani side, the meeting were attended by the management of SCAT Airlines and representatives of travel companies. During the meeting, the parties discussed launching direct flights between Astana and Belgrade (Republic of Serbia) by the end of the current year, including the possibility of applying the fifth freedom of the air.
