Coordination exercises on search and rescue support for flights were successfully conducted in the search and rescue area of the West Kazakhstan Region. The event was organized in accordance with the Annual Plan for Conducting Search and Rescue Exercises in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The scenario involved practicing the coordinated actions of all participating services and units in response to a simulated aviation incident—a forced landing of a helicopter performing an aerial visual inspection flight with a pilot and five passengers on board, more than 90 kilometers from the city of Uralsk.
The exercise tested the readiness of the Kazaviaspas search and rescue aircraft based in Uralsk, including a visual search in the presumed crash zone, deployment of a rescue team from the helicopter, evacuation of simulated victims, and the involvement of ground emergency and rescue units, medical services, and fire brigades from the regional departments of the Emergency Situations Ministry of the West Kazakhstan Region. Communication protocols and coordination between all participating units were also tested throughout the operation.
As a result of the exercise, all simulated victims were promptly evacuated and transported to medical facilities in the cities of Aksai and Terekti.
Representatives of the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation, including experts from the Volga Aviation Search and Rescue Center of Rosaviatsia, observed the exercise.
The leadership of the exercise commended the high level of preparedness of the Emergency Situations Department (ESD) units of Uralsk and the West Kazakhstan Region, noting the reliability and adequacy of their equipment, as demonstrated during the operation. Medical personnel from the Burlin and Terekti district hospitals also responded quickly and professionally, providing first aid to the simulated victims during the exercise.
