As part of efforts to establish direct flights between Kazakhstan and the United States, the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, in collaboration with the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and with the support of the Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) program at the US Embassy in Astana, continue to strengthen cooperation in aviation security.
From December 3 to 5, 2024, TSA representatives, led by TSA Regional Attache Chris Hadinger, visited Kazakhstan. Working meetings were held at the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport and the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, where the parties discussed key aspects of aviation security.
The discussions focused on cooperation in aviation security, experience sharing, and preparations for the launch of direct flights between the two countries. TSA representatives highlighted the high level of collaboration between the aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and the United States, as well as their commitment to meeting all required procedures and standards for the successful implementation of this project.
During their visit, TSA and EXBS representatives toured Astana Airport to review the airport’s perimeter security systems, access control measures for restricted areas, onboard catering security, and the safety of cargo and mail operations.
The opening of direct flights between Kazakhstan and the United States will be a significant step in strengthening economic, cultural, and tourist ties between the two countries. This initiative aims to enhance transport accessibility, improve passenger services, and increase Kazakhstan’s appeal on the international stage.
Efforts in this direction will continue in strict compliance with all international requirements and standards, ensuring a high level of safety and service quality for passengers.
