Within the framework of EACAC cooperation, at the invitation of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic of Armenia, from February 26 to 29, 2024, AAK aviation security experts headed by Deputy Director General for Aviation Security Darhan Yespotanov visited the Armenia’s CAA and Zvartnots International Airport (Yerevan). The purpose of the visit is to provide consulting assistance in passing the upcoming preliminary audit of the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) as part of the planned opening of direct flights between the United States and Armenia.

During the visit, the AAK experts got acquainted with the activities of the Armenian aviation authorities and the aviation security system at Zvartnots International Airport, as well as analyzed regulatory legal acts in the field of aviation security of the Republic of Armenia for their compliance with the standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

According to the results of the review, the AAK experts noted the high level of aviation security in the country and gave a positive assessment of the measures taken to protect civil aviation from acts of unlawful interference. The current regulatory legal acts in the field of aviation security and quality control measures comply with the standards and recommended practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The measures and procedures carried out at Yerevan Airport meet international requirements, and in some aspects the measures are even higher than the established standards.

In certain areas of activity of the CAС of the Republic of Armenia, experts have given recommendations on improving aviation security measures. In particular, in the field of cybersecurity and the protection of civil aviation from acts of unlawful interference using unmanned aerial vehicles.

In turn, the studied best practices of the introduction of modern security equipment will be used when making changes to regulatory legal acts in the field of aviation security of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Following the visit, the representatives of the CAС of the Republic of Armenia and the AAK decided to continue and expand cooperation in the field of aviation security.
