07/08/2026

Michael Daniel, Chief Executive Officer of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan (AAK), met with Julie M. Stufft, United States Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, to discuss prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in civil aviation.

The parties exchanged views on strengthening the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States in the aviation sector and enhancing collaboration between the respective civil aviation authorities.

Particular attention was given to preparations for the launch of direct air services between Kazakhstan and the United States. In this context, the participants reviewed Kazakhstan’s ongoing preparations for the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) conducted by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It was noted that Kazakhstan has adopted legislative amendments aimed at further strengthening its civil aviation oversight system and bringing it into even closer alignment with international standards.

The meeting also highlighted the long-standing and productive cooperation in the field of aviation security, supported for many years through the U.S. Export Control and Border Security (EXBS) Program.

In addition, the parties noted the successful implementation of specialized training under the International Air Cargo Interdiction Training (IACIT) program. The training, conducted at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, brought together representatives of Kazakhstan’s civil aviation authorities and aviation security specialists from the airports of Astana and Almaty, contributing to the enhancement of professional competencies and the exchange of international best practices.

Michael Daniel expressed his sincere appreciation to the U.S. side for its continued support and valuable contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s civil aviation sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation, exchanging expertise, and implementing joint initiatives aimed at enhancing aviation safety and security, supporting the sustainable development of the aviation industry, and improving air connectivity between Kazakhstan and the United States.
