The ICAO seminar on the Safety oversight in the area of Quality Management Systems (QMS), organized under the umbrella of the EASPG Regional Expert Safety Group (RESG) had place in Sofia, Bulgaria from 24 to 27 September 2024.

The workshop is primarily intended for inspectors/experts from Civil Aviation Authorities involved in initial certification or approval and continued surveillance of QMS, or certain components of QMS, as required by applicable aviation regulations for certain industry stakeholders and service providers. The workshop was the result of project teamwork of development of EUR Doc 048 "GUIDANCE ON THE HARMONIZED IMPLEMENTATION OF QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS IN AVIATION AND RELATED OVERSIGHT" and Quality Management System Evaluation Tool, where AAL representatives were actively involved among CAA representatives.

The following items were discussed in the meeting of the Regional Aviation Safety Group: review of EASPG and PCG outcomes, review of ICAO Fourteenth Air Navigation Conference (ANC/14) outcomes, including position on GASP update, EUR RASP 2024 survey, amendment of EUR RASP management procedures, systemic safety issues, proposals for implementation support activities, including sharing of safety promotion materials and other safety issues.

These events were attended by experts from the aviation authorities of the member countries of the EUR/NAT region, including a Baurzhan BAKIROV, AAK Head of Quality and Compliance and Arailym RAIMZHANOVA, AAK Senior aviation inspector of Safety Intelligence and representatives of international and regional organizations (EUROCONTROL, IFALPA, FAA, IATA, EASA).
