The 4th meeting of the ICAO Regional Working Group on Aerodrome Operations (RWGAO) was held in Dublin, Ireland from April 23 to 24. The event is organized by International Civil Aviation Organization European/ North Atlantic Regional Office (ICAO EUR/NAT).
The RWGAO was established within the framework of the European Region Aviation System Planning Group (EASPG) to carry out tasks related to the aerodrome operation, in particular, in support of the relevant strategic objectives of ICAO with the appropriate authority.
The meeting was attended by experts from the member States of the EUR/NAT regional bureau and representatives of international and regional organizations EASA, FAA, Eurocontrol.
The Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by senior aviation inspectors of the Department of Aerodromes and Ground handling of Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan Yerlan Aldazharov, Yernar Amantayuly, Ismail Zhulduzbayev.
At the meeting, representatives of Kazakhstan presented proposals to improve the IBIS analysis provided by ICAO on bird strikes from the point of view of practical application by States, as well as the use of unmanned aerial systems for the purpose of flight inspection of aerodrome ground lighting systems and verification of its compliance with standards.
Following the meeting, the ICAO secretariat of the RWGAO Group fully supported Kazakhstan's initiatives. Working papers based on the results of the reports will be sent for further consideration to the ICAO task force expert working groups.
The RWGAO secretariat highly appreciated the reports of representatives of Kazakhstan and noted their active participation in the implementation of ICAO's regional and strategic goals.
On November 2023 the RWGAO is assigned a task to look into ways to increase ground handling safety, efficiency and risk management in the EUR region.
Second Meeting to the EASPG Regional Working Sub-Group on Intelligence Gathering and Analysis IGA/02 was held in Dublin, Ireland from April 25 to 26.
Ground handling forms a significant and critical part of the aviation system supporting safe and efficient operations. It is important that the safety, reliability, and consistency of flight operations continue during the ground operation.
The meeting was attended by experts from the member States of the EUR/NAT regional bureau and representatives of international and regional organizations EASA, Eurocontrol, ACI-Europe, IATA and IBAC.
At the meeting, representatives of Kazakhstan actively participated in issues regarding ground handling such as Operational Safety in Ground Handling at Airports and Improving Ground Handling Safety, Efficiency and Risk Management via the Safety Stack Approach.
