Turkistan International Airport: everything goes as planned

Employees of the “Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan” JSC, headed by General Director Peter Griffiths, visited the construction site of the future Turkistan International Airport and got acquainted with the construction progress of the terminal complex, runway and airfield infrastructure.


Currently, construction work is being carried out in accordance with the work plan. The work on laying the 4th layer of asphalt concrete pavement on the artificial runway has been completed. Finishing work is being done in the terminal building.


Moreover, the contractor is working on the purchase of special equipment for the airport.


During the working trip, a meeting was held with representatives of the contracting organization, RSE “Kazaeronavigatsia”, design organizations and others.


At the meeting, Peter Griffiths informed about the procedure for certification of the aerodrome for its commissioning, also discussed problematic issues and ways to solve them. “Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan” JSC expressed its readiness to provide assistance for the full completion of the project and the commissioning of the Turkestan International Airport.


The project “Construction of the Turkestan International Airport” is carried out within the framework of a public-private partnership. The Turkish company “YDA” is a private partner.
The main parameters of the future airport:


The total area of the airfield – 290.7175 hectares.
The runway is 3300 * 45 meters.
Number of parking places – 7 places for the B-747 type aircraft, etc.
Lighting equipment complying with ICAO CAT I.
Terminal complex: throughput capacity – 450 passengers/hour, two passenger boarding bridges.


In addition to the airfield facilities (runway, taxiways, apron), the project also provides for the construction of the necessary infrastructure: a refueling complex, an emergency rescue station, service and technical facilities, a patrol road along the perimeter fence and other life support facilities of the airport.
