The international aviation community positively notes the new approaches to managing the civil aviation industry in Kazakhstan that are being implemented. This is also noted by experts from ICAO and the European Commission. During the visit in March this year, the Chairman of the Aviation Safety Committee of the European Commission gave a positive assessment of the implemented model of civil aviation management.

This was announced by the Director General of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, Catalin Radu, speaking at a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the development of civil aviation.

“We started to work under trilateral agreement the Irish Aviation Authorities and EASA on technical cooperation and human capacity building in the Aviation Administration. The implementation of this cooperation will improve the level of safety in the country and effectively prepare for upcoming audits by the FAA and ICAO”, Catalin Radu reported.

To strengthen the international presence, last year agreements and memorandums were reached on cooperation with Boeing on improving safety, with Airports Council International (ACI Europe and ACI World) on airfield services and support for domestic airports, with IATA on cooperation in the field of safety, aviation security and passenger service.

We are actively working with ICAO at various arenas. Last year representative from Kazakhstan was elected as a Vice-Chair of the ICAO Aviation Security Task Force in the Europe and North Atlantic Region (ENAVSECG).

Based on the results of oversight and surveillance activities, 25 certificates were suspended or revoked to ensure safety in the country.

“Works with EASA and IAA experts to provide technical assistance to the AAK on implementation of European safety standards will be continued. We expect a technical visit of European Commission in the autumn this year. Preparation for passing FAA safety audit to launch flights in USA will be continued. In parallel, we are also working on preparations for the ICAO audit. We are planning to begin the digitalizationof AAK business processes for the control and oversight activities to improve the efficiencyand effectiveness of flight safety and the securityof our passengers. And we will strengthen the regional leadership and international presence”, said Catalin Radu during his speech.

Two new regional initiatives were launched one in aviation security AVSEC CG (6 states) and one on the civil aviation governance EACAC (10 states) with the involvement of states from the region, situating KZ as a regional leader in aviation.
