16/06/2023

Today, on June 16, 2023 a workshop "Level of Service" (LoS - Level of Service) was organized on the basis of JSC "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan". This seminar was initiated by the JSC "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan" with the support of IATA Consulting on a non-profit basis.

The seminar was attended by representatives of the Civil Aviation Committee of the MIID, the JSC "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan", the airports of Kazakhstan, the local airlines, as well as students of the Academy of Civil Aviation. The main speakers of the workshop were the IATA Consulting representatives Mr. Juergen Renner (Head of IATA Consulting in Airports, Passenger Transport, Cargo and Aviation Security from the Montreal head office) and Mr. Alejandro Rivera Gil (Senior Manager of IATA Consulting in the European Region).

The "Level of Service" is an analysis of the various airport facilities, and whether the airport infrastructure is optimized for current operations and for future growth. The Level of Service concept has 4 definitions of levels of service (Over-design, Optimum, Sub-optimum, Under-provided). Each level is characterized by certain indicators and directly depends on the passenger flow.

In addition, the Level of Service workshop also identifies areas where airports need to improve in order to minimize waiting times in queues, maximize the efficiency of passenger handling procedures in passenger terminal operations and ensure cost-effective development.

LoS is a new concept for Kazakhstani airports to improve the quality of passenger service in conditions of annual increase in number of flights and growth of passenger traffic.

One should note that aviation authorities of the country are planning to review and update regulatory and legal acts related to passenger services in airport terminals, and if necessary, introduce elements of LoS concept in accordance with international standards within the next two years.

The Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan extends its appreciation to the representatives of the International Air Transport Association in the Republic of Kazakhstan, represented by Mr. S. Balonuskovs and R. Sarin for providing the opportunity to hold a seminar for representatives of the civil aviation industry of Kazakhstan.
