Currently, there is a rapid and dynamic development of domestic tourism in our country. Lake Alakol, located on the border of the East Kazakhstan and Almaty regions, has become a new "Mecca" for summer holidays.
Due to the growing demand for domestic tourism, the Akimat of the Almaty Region initiated the reconstruction and lengthening of the artificial runway at Usharal Airport, which will allow it to receive medium-haul jet aircraft A-320, B-757, B-737, CRJ 200, Embraer 190, operated by Kazakhstani airlines.
The government allocated funds in the amount of 4.7 billion tenge for the reconstruction of the runway. The customer of the project is the akimat of Almaty region. Work will be carried out during the summer.
For the period of reconstruction, it is planned to construct an unpaved runway to receive AN-24, L-410 aircraft, which will ensure the uninterrupted operation of the airport during the closure for repairs of the artificial runway.
The modernization of the ground infrastructure of the Usharal airport will have a multiplier effect for the development of tourism on the coast of Lake Alakol.
During the reconstruction, it is planned to increase the railway communication. From June 17, 2021, a new passenger train will start running on the Almaty-Dostyk route (10 wagons in the train) 3 times a week.
In the summer, the compositions of existing passenger trains No. 258/257 and No. 54/53 "Nur-Sultan-Dostyk" will be increased from Nur-Sultan by 2 or more reserved seat cars each.
