Minister of industry and infrastructure development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov reported on measures to reduce the cost of air tickets in the framework of the implementation of the presidential address, which noted the high cost of air tickets.
Now the cost of tickets is mainly formed on the basis of market and dynamic pricing mechanism (competition, demand, seasonality, holidays and weekends).
«The state is equidistant from direct regulation and only creates competitive conditions for airlines. Only through competition we will reduce the cost of air tickets. The state, in turn, should monitor and exercise due supervision over the market», - Beibut Atamkulov said.
According to him, since 2012, all restrictions on the performance of regular passenger flights by Kazakh airlines on domestic routes have been removed.
On the 3 most popular routes, flights are carried out by 4 air carriers with different tariff offers.
This measure resulted in a decline in the tickets cost.
For example, if in 2012 the average cost of a ticket on the route Nur-Sultan-Almaty was in recalculation on the US dollar - 85, in 2019 tickets cost an average of 60 dollars. Additionally, the tickets cost should affect the expansion of the activities of the low-cost airline Fly Arystan.
«In May this year, the first national low-cost airline Fly Arystan was launched, where ticket prices are 2 times lower than those of air Astana. To date, more than 470 thousand tickets have already been sold, the cost of 60% of tickets is below 10 thousand tenge. We must expand the fleet of aircraft and increase the route network”, - the head of MIID said.
In addition, the Ministry has begun to optimize the supply chain of aviation fuel directly from the manufacturer to the end user.
