The number of flights between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan increased by 2.5 times

Fulfilment of the President's instructions to expand the route network, on March 2, 2023, negotiations were held in Tashkent between the aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan was led by Talgat Lastayev, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the MIID RK. The delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan was led by Jasurbek Choriev, Deputy Minister of Transport.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed expanding the geography of flights and increasing the number of flights.

The parties agreed to more than double the number of permitted flights on the routes Astana-Tashkent from 12 to 36 per week (an increase of 200%) and Almaty-Tashkent from 20 to 36 per week (an increase of 80%), as well as up to four flights per week on other routes.

As a result of the agreements reached, Air Astana and Uzbekistan Airways plan to increase the frequencies on the Almaty-Tashkent route from 14 to 20 flights per week, and Astana-Tashkent from 6 to 12 flights per week, beginning in the spring-summer period of the current year.

In addition, an agreement was reached on the multiple appointments of air carriers on all contractual routes between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to develop competition, trade and economic cooperation and reduce the cost of air tickets.

At the same time, Kazakhstani airlines intend to launch direct regular flights to Samarkand, Fergana, Bukhara, and Qarshi.

Furthermore, the parties discussed cooperation issues in flight safety and aviation security.

The parties agreed to continue collaborating and exchanging experience to improve regional aviation security and flight safety.
