17/09/2022

The Kazakh delegation, comprised of representatives from JSC "Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan," JSC "Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport," and LLP "Turkistan International Airport," attended the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO's 17th Symposium and Exhibition on the Passenger Identification Program (TRIP) in Montreal, Canada (September 13-15 this year).

Strategy ICAO TRIP is acknowledged as a key area of aviation security and facilitation, as well as one of ICAO's five strategic goals. Appendix 9 - Simplification of Formalities contains the regulatory framework that underpins the TRIP strategy.

The TRIP Symposium is a world-class event that allows for the exchange of information on all aspects of the passenger identification process management.

The theme of this year's symposium was "Uninterrupted and contactless processes: data exchange to accelerate the pace of recovery." Throughout its various sessions, the need to strengthen international cooperation and interaction in facilitating passenger travel and countering the numerous threats to international civil aviation was repeatedly emphasised.

The symposium was divided into nine sessions in total: Aviation Recovery - international and regional perspectives; recent changes in the ICAO TRIP Program strategy - innovations in procedure simplification and the future of travel; support for better national identity management practises; ICAO standards and specifications MRTD: travel document integrity; health protection; border control: inspection systems and tools, as well as interacting applications; passenger data: identification of travellers and risk assessment; capacity building and assistance to States by ICAO; the way forward is to achieve seamless and contactless processes to speed recovery.

Within the framework of this event, a meeting was held at the ICAO site between D. Espotanov, Deputy Director General for Aviation Security of Aviation Administration Kazakhstan and Ms. N. Abdennebi, Head of the ICAO Air Transport Bureau's Department for Simplification of Formalities. The meeting was also attended by the Adviser of the Republic of Kazakhstan's Embassy in Canada, Gabdyzhamalov N., and the Managing Director of Turkestan's International Airport, Kylavuz H. The Republic of Kazakhstan was chosen as one of the candidates for the 18th Symposium and Exhibition on the Passenger Identification Program (TRIP), which will be held in 2023, at the initiative of ICAO.

The Kazakh side proposed holding the event in Turkestan, Kazakhstan's spiritual capital. The final decision on the country will be made by ICAO in November of this year.

It should also be noted that this year, as part of its assistance to Member States in implementing Annex 9 of the Facilitation of Formalities, including the development of the National Air Transport Facilitation Program (NATFP) and the implementation of the ICAO Strategy for the Traveler Identification Program (TRIP), ICAO provided the Republic of Kazakhstan with a free specialised course designed for 12 participants.

This training will be distributed to the Republic of Kazakhstan's state bodies involved in international flight registration.

The Aviation Administration Kazakhstan expresses its gratitude to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Canada, represented by Ambassador Kamaldinov A., as well as the Embassy's consultant, Gabdyzhamalov N.
