Specialists of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan in the framework of cooperation with the International Organization for Migration of the United Nations took part in a meeting dedicated to countering the illegal migration, combating human trafficking, facilitation and aviation security.
The meeting participants - representatives of government agencies, international organizations and migration policy experts - discussed measures to prevent and suppress the trafficking of people for the purpose of exploitation and considered opportunities to strengthen inter-agency cooperation to detect and prevent such crimes at the borders.
A special focus was placed on the introduction of international human rights norms in the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of air transport, which will be an important step in protecting vulnerable groups and ensuring the safety of citizens.
Facilitation and aviation security remained among the highlighted topics. Discussion was held on practices and procedures and new instruments for more effective control and inspection of cross-border travelers.
Experts emphasized that facilitation without compromising aviation security was a key factor in countering the illegal immigration across state borders, combating human trafficking and ensuring an efficient level of security in air transport.
A proposal for further cooperation strategy between the UN International Organization for Migration and the state authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan was presented at the meeting. The main attention was paid to the introduction of new technologies, staff training and strengthening of coordination between different state and international agencies. Representatives of the International Organization for Migration expressed their readiness to provide comprehensive support in the process of updating and improving the legislation of Kazakhstan.
Following the outcome of the meeting, recommendations were developed for further implementation of international standards in the national legislation, including in the field of aviation security. These measures are aimed at creating a more effective system of countering the illegal migration across the state border, combating human trafficking and ensuring the security of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the global community.
