21/04/2021

In order to ensure the transport accessibility of the coast of Lake Alakol, the Akimat of the Urdzhar district of the East Kazakhstan region has been implementing a project since last year to reconstruct and lengthen the runway, as well as install lighting equipment at the airport in the village of Urdzhar.

Funds for the implementation of the project in the amount of 4.7 billion tenge were allocated through the Employment Roadmap.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. It should be noted that major repairs of the runway of Urjar airport have not been carried out since the start of its operation in 2008. Delaying the reconstruction period may affect flight safety.

After modernization, the airport in the village of Urdzhar will be able to receive modern jet and turboprop aircraft Embraer 190, BombardierQ-400, CRJ-200, including at night. This will increase the flow of tourists by air transport to the coast of Lake Alakol in subsequent summer seasons.

In connection with the closure of the Urdzhar airport, JSC NC "KTZ" will increase the number of trains and additional trailer cars in the direction of Alakol Lake this year.

To ensure the transport accessibility of the lake coast for tourists, the akimat of the East Kazakhstan region also plans to increase the number of bus routes.
