From 6 to 8 December 2023, the Republic of Kazakhstan, will host a Regional Symposium on the TRIP Traveller Identification Programme, for the first time. The event will be held under the auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO with the support of the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Civil Aviation Committee,and the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan.
According to the event programme, 10-panelsessions are scheduled over three days, which are directly related to the five key elements of ICAO’s TRIP Strategy: Evidence of Identity, Machine-Readable Travel Documents (MRTDs), Document Issuance Control, Inspection Systems and Tools, and Interoperable Applications.
The primary focus of the event is aimed at improving passenger mobility through technology and innovation. It should be noted that one of the priority areas of civil aviation development is digital transformation. The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan pays special attention to the application of the latest technologies for passenger service and identification at airports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as to the facilitation of air transportation. The ICAO TRIP Regional Symposium is expected to provide a unique discussion platform to share experiences and discuss common passenger identification challenges.
Speakers at the ICAO TRIP Regional Symposium will be international facilitation experts from Canada, the United States of America, France, the United Kingdom, Turkey, New Zealand, and Switzerland. In addition, representatives of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Airports Council International (ACI), International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Air Transport Association (IATA), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), INTERPOL General Secretariat, International Criminal Police Organization, and the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX) are expected to attend the event.
Kazakhstani speakers will be the representatives of government agencies (Border Service of the NSC RK, MDDIAI RK, Committee of Migration Service MIA RK, CAC MT), Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, Astana and Almaty airports, domestic airlines (Air Astana, SCAT, Qazaq Air, FlyArystan) and the Academy of Civil Aviation. The detailed programme of the event will be published on the website of the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan on 1 November this year.
