Kazakhstan adheres to European aviation security requirements and standards

24/03/2023

Clive Wright and Abigail Hansen, representatives of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), arrived in Kazakhstan for a working visit to the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan JSC. The visit aims to assess the effectiveness of the European CASE-1 and CASE-2 training projects, which aim to introduce the best European aviation security practices and standards.

The CASE-1 project ran from 2017 to 2019. During this time, aviation inspectors and employees of airport aviation security services attended various seminars and courses on the study of European aviation security requirements. The CASE-2 project was launched this year to continue to provide ECAC at the national level with support for the implementation of European aviation security requirements and standards. As is well known, the phased introduction of European standards is due to the Concept of Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan's Transport and Logistics Potential until 2030.

Under the chairmanship of Darkhan Espotanov, Deputy Director General of the AAK, and with the participation of ECAC experts and representatives of law enforcement and unique state bodies, a meeting was held to review and discuss the results of the courses, plans for the coming years, and current issues on security at civil aviation facilities. The presentation was made by Darkhan Katyshev, Director of the Aviation Security Department, who familiarized experts with the country's current system for ensuring aviation security, spoke about plans to create a single state operator, with the function of guaranteeing security at airports assigned, and measures to change the mechanism for calculating the aviation security fee from tonnage per passenger.

Experts from the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) supported the plans to establish a single-state operator, pointing out that similar services are currently being shown in many countries and that the implementation of this initiative will significantly improve the country's aviation security.
