In his speech at the Government meeting on the development of civil aviation, Minister of industry and infrastructure development Beibut Atamkulov announced the new directions that Kazakh airlines plan to open.
"Since 2017, the "open skies" regime has been introduced in Nur Sultan. For 3 years, kazakh and foreign air carriers have opened 19 new routes, including routes to Tokyo, Warsaw, Budapest, Helsinki and others. The frequency of flights of existing routes to London, Moscow, Beijing, Istanbul is increasing.
Flights to such major cities as Shanghai, Singapore, and New York are planned to be opened by Kazakh carriers," - Beibut Atamkulov said.
According to the Minister, Kazakhstan has air communication with 26 foreign countries on 99 international routes (430 flights per week by 26 foreign and 3 Kazakh airlines).
Beibut Atamkulov also commented on the measures taken by the Ministry to increase the appeal of flights to our country and attract a number of foreign carriers to the Kazakhstani market.
"The arrival of such airlines as Qatar Airways, Emirates, China Eastern, Ural airlines and others is expected in the near future. We will implement the "open skies" mode in the airports of Nur-Sultan, Almaty, Shymkent, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Taraz, Petropavlovsk, Semey. We plan to provide all foreign airlines with the 5th degree of air freedom for flights to priority financial centers," - the Minister said.
In addition, according to the head of MIID RK, the world standards of aircraft and passengers service at airports are being introduced, which will bring the main services for maintenance into a single standard and thereby optimize the airlines costs.
The modernization of the ground-based air transport infrastructure is almost complete. Reconstruction of 16 runways and 13 terminals of the Kazakhstani airports was carried out.
According to Beibut Atamkulov, the reconstruction of the runways of Kostanay and Balkhash airports will be completed by the end of this year. Construction of an international airport in Turkestan will continue.
