Dombra is a passport and a brand of a Kazakh. National Dombra Day was established on June 13, 2018 by the decree of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy N.A. Nazarbayev.
The holiday of the oldest musical instrument in Kazakhstan is celebrated on the first Sunday of July. This date was established with the aim of consolidating the Kazakh society around the values and creative ideas of cultural heritage.
“The Kazakhs kept the dombra in a place of honor, and the kuishi were honored guests, the people praised them. This noble cause continues to this day. According to the decision of UNESCO, dombra and kui are included in the list of the intangible heritage of mankind. Respect for the sacred dombra never left,” said N.A. Nazarbaev.
On the eve of Dombra Day, the Elbasy Library prepared a video dedicated to the memory of outstanding Kazakh dombra and kuishi players.
