The High level Conference on Aviation Security and Regional Cooperation was held on August 11-12, 2022, at the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan JSC, with the participation of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Administration of Aktau International Airport. The conference was attended by the leaders of the aviation authorities of friendly countries of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.
Talgat Lastayev, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan, greeted the participants. In his speech, he emphasised the high results of the European experts' audit, according to which Kazakhstan confirmed compliance with ICAO standards in the field of flight safety as well as according to the results of the ICAO audit in the field of aviation security representing one of the highest indicators in the region. Kazakhstan is currently a regional leader in aviation security and flight safety, actively developing partnerships with all Central Asian and Caucasus countries.
The conference agenda included discussions about the operational exchange of information required to ensure civil aviation security.
Interaction and cooperation of aviation authorities from countries participating in the conference on the protection of civil aviation from unlawful interference.Harmonization of participating countries' laws, taking into account international standards and the International Civil Aviation Organization's recommended practises (ICAO).
Maintaining the professional level of training and retraining of qualified civil aviation personnel, as well as the formation of an aviation security coordination group among participating countries.
As a working body of the coordination group, the ICAO Aviation Security Training Center of the Academy of Civil Aviation of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been proposed.The coordination group's objective is to develop an efficient mechanism to help States achieve the key objectives of the ICAO Global Aviation Security Plan and the quality implementation of ICAO standards and recommended practises, achieving a high level of aviation security through mutual information sharing and assistance to one another.
Within the framework of the Agreement on Regional Cooperation in the Field of Aviation Security, Conference participants reached agreements on capacity building as well as cooperation on aviation security issues.
