Today, ICAO Week started in Almaty with an international seminar dedicated to topical issues of aviation security and risk management for civil aircraft flights in or near conflict zones.

The event was organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the Safer Skies Consultative Committee (SSCC) and the aviation authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The seminar brings together the world's leading aviation security experts, civil aviation representatives from various countries, and representatives of airlines that regularly fly to politically unstable states. Participants will discuss a wide range of issues related to assessing and managing risks to civil aircraft flights over or near conflict zones.

The sessions will focus on topical sessions such as: global and regional threat landscape, common approach to risk assessment - inter-agency cooperation, sharing of threat-related information, effective sharing of threat and risk information at regional and international level, aviation incidents related to conflict zones and lessons learned, perspectives on risk management in international and regional conflict zones, and discussion of current challenges.

The seminar provides a unique platform for dialogue between representatives of states, international organizations, aviation authorities and airlines. Participants will be able to share their knowledge and experience, discuss current challenges and develop joint solutions to improve flight safety in conflict zones. Working together will improve civil aviation security both regionally and globally, contributing to a safer and more sustainable air transportation system.
