Coordination exercises were held in the Akmola search and rescue region

“Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan” JSC, with the support of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, conducted coordination exercises to organize and conduct search and rescue operations (works). The exercise was attended by the crew and representatives of Kazaviaspas JSC, on duty in the Akmola search and rescue region, the search and rescue coordination center and the air traffic service of the branch of RSE “Kazaeronavigatsia” in Nur-Sultan city and the emergency rescue team of the aerodrome in Nur-Sultan, Nur-Sultan. 

According to the legend of the exercises, the L-410 aircraft was flying along the route Nur-Sultan - Pavlodar. At a distance of 30 nautical miles from the aerodrome, the aircraft commander reported to the controller about the failure of one engine and the decision to return to the departure aerodrome. After some time, the crew reported on the failure of the remaining engine and the preformation of an emergency landing outside the aerodrome. 

During the exercises, the above-mentioned services worked out a methodology for interaction during search and rescue operations, methods for searching for an aircraft in distress, selecting sites for landing a search and rescue aircraft, and evacuating victims from the scene. For the exercise, a duty helicopter Mi-8 of Kazaviaspas JSC was involved with rescuers and medical workers on board.
